Business Technology case study
TDT Platform
Inside the build
From constraint to working system.
The challenge
What had to change
Field service businesses - HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping - were running operations on whiteboards, phone calls, and disconnected spreadsheets. Scheduling inefficiencies led to missed appointments, technicians were driving inefficient routes, and billing cycles stretched 30-45 days due to manual invoice creation and paper-based sign-offs.
Our solution
The product response
We built the TDT Platform as a unified field service management system: a web dashboard for dispatchers, a mobile app for technicians, and a self-service portal for customers - all synchronized in real time with automated billing and route optimization.
Architecture & approach
How the system was shaped
The dispatcher dashboard is a Next.js web app with drag-and-drop scheduling and a live map view powered by the Google Maps API. The technician mobile app (React Native) receives real-time job assignments, captures digital signatures, and triggers automated invoice generation via Stripe. Twilio handles SMS confirmations and appointment reminders. All components share a Node.js/REST API backend with a PostgreSQL database for job and customer history.

Business impact
The outcome
Businesses on the TDT Platform reduced scheduling overhead by 60% and cut billing cycle time from 30-45 days to same-day. Technician utilization improved by 25% through optimized routing, and customer no-show rates dropped by 40% from automated SMS reminders. One mid-sized HVAC company processed $220K in invoices in their first month on the platform - previously a 3-week manual billing cycle.
