Health & Wellness Technology case study
PranaPulse
Inside the build
From constraint to working system.
The challenge
What had to change
The breathwork and mindfulness app market is saturated with static, one-size-fits-all programs that fail to adapt to the user's actual physiological state. Wellness coaches using manual biofeedback equipment faced a different problem: expensive, siloed tools with no way to deliver personalized programs at scale or track client progress across sessions.
Our solution
The product response
PranaPulse was built as an adaptive wellness intelligence platform: a mobile and web application that reads real-time biometric signals (HRV, heart rate, SpO2) from consumer wearables, uses a machine learning model to assess the user's current stress and recovery state, and dynamically selects and adjusts breathwork sessions accordingly.
Architecture & approach
How the system was shaped
The mobile app (React Native) integrates with Apple HealthKit and Google Fit to pull real-time biometric data from paired wearables. A Python/ML backend processes HRV and stress signals to generate a "readiness score" and selects the optimal breathwork protocol from a content library. Sessions are delivered via a WebSocket connection for real-time audio/visual guidance that adapts pacing mid-session. The practitioner dashboard (Next.js) gives wellness coaches client-level visibility into trends, session adherence, and progress reports.
Product scope

Business impact
The outcome
PranaPulse users reported a 42% improvement in self-reported stress levels after 30 days of consistent use, validated by correlated HRV improvement data. Wellness practitioners on the platform grew their client capacity by 3x without increasing session hours, using the dashboard to manage asynchronous client programs. The platform achieved a 74% 30-day retention rate - significantly above the 21% industry average for wellness apps.
